Stanislaus von Moos


Stanislaus von Moos és un historiador i crític d'art suís. Va ser professor a Harvard, Berna i Nova York, i el 1983 es va fer professor a la Universitat de Tecnologia de Delft. Posteriorment va treballar al recentment creat Departament d'Art Modern i Contemporani de Zuric fins a la seva jubilació el 2005.

El 1968 va publicar "Le Corbusier: elements of a synthesis", que es considera un primer llibre complet i crític sobre la vida i el treball de Le Corbusier. El 1971, juntament amb Hans Reinhard, va fundar la revista Ar­chithese. Des de 1997 va ser professor visitant Jean Labatut a Princeton. L'any 1998 va rebre el Schelling Ar­chi­tec­ture The­ory Prize.

Stanislaus ha publicat obres sobre la iconografia política de l'arquitectura del Renaixement italià, la història del disseny suís i sobre els arquitectes nord-americans Venturi, Scott Brown & Associates. Ha estat comissari d'exposicions, entre d'altres, sobre l'Esprit Nouveau, l'arquitectura de Venturi & Rauch, i també com a co-comissari d'exposicions sobre Le Corbusier i Louis Kahn. El 2004 va publicar Nicht Disneyland, una col·lecció d'assaigs sobre arquitectura i art suïssos del segle XX.

 

Stanislaus von Moos is a Swiss art historian and critic. He was teaching in Har­vard, Bern and New York, and in 1983 be­came a pro­fes­sor at the Delft Uni­ver­sity of Tech­nol­ogy. He then worked at the newly cre­ated De­part­ment of Mod­ern and Con­tem­po­rary Art in Zurich until his re­tire­ment in 2005. 

In 1968 he published "Le Corbusier: elements of a synthesis", which is considered a first comprehensive and critical survey of Le Corbusier's life and work. In 1971, together with Hans Reinhard, he founded the journal Ar­chithese. Since 1997 he was a vis­it­ing pro­fes­sor Jean La­batut in Prince­ton. He was also awarded Schelling Ar­chi­tec­ture The­ory Prize.

Stanislaus has published works on the political iconography of Italian Renaissance architecture, on Swiss design history and on the American architects Venturi, Scott Brown & Associates. He curated exhibitions, among others, on the Esprit Nouveau, on the architecture of Venturi & Rauch, as well as (as co-curator) exhibitions about Le Corbusier and Louis Kahn. In 2004 he published Nicht Disneyland, an essay collection on Swiss architecture and art in the 20th century.
