Aquesta assignatura intensiva porta l’estudiantat fora de la zona de confort del projecte tradicional i cap a aquells territoris on l’espai viu, canvia, es repara i resisteix. Res de tabula rasa, res de formes icòniques: treballarem sobre allò infraordinari, sobre les ecologies fràgils i sobre les microtrames que sostenen la vida urbana.
Aprendrem a llegir allò que normalment roman invisible —manteniments silenciosos, actors no humans, xarxes precàries, gestos mínims de cura— i a transformar aquesta atenció en eines projectuals radicalment noves. La fragilitat es convertirà en una força generativa: un laboratori per pensar l’arquitectura com a aliança, diplomàcia i adaptació.
Els resultats del curs seran petits projectes de reparació i manteniment, estratègies de restauració de trames ecològiques, pràctiques d’ús conscient dels recursos i dispositius capaços de respondre al repte climàtic mitjançant intervencions situades i responsables. Un curs per a qui desitja una arquitectura capaç d’estar al món, no per damunt d’ell. Per a qui vol projectar menys per controlar, i més per fer existir.
Cartographies of Care: Architecture as Ecological Diplomacy
This intensive course takes students beyond the comfort zone of traditional architectural design and into territories where space is alive—where it changes, is repaired, and resists. No tabula rasa, no iconic forms: we will work with the infra-ordinary, with fragile ecologies, and with the micro-structures that sustain urban life.
Students will learn to read what usually remains invisible—silent maintenance practices, non-human actors, precarious networks, minimal gestures of care—and to transform this attention into radically new design tools. Fragility becomes a generative force: a laboratory for thinking of architecture as alliance, diplomacy, and adaptation.
The outcomes of the course will be small-scale projects of repair and maintenance, strategies for restoring ecological networks, practices of conscious resource use, and devices capable of responding to the climate challenge through situated and responsible interventions. A course for those who seek an architecture able to be in the world, not above it. For those who wish to design less to control, and more to allow things to exist.
